Stars Shine

"…How could a human being molded out of clay say to the One who molded him, “Why in the world did you make me this way?” Romans 9:20, TPT

I began a thought in a previous post that I think should be elaborated upon. So we’re doing that!

What I said was: ‘I believe it is the greatest hope of all the heavens that each of us finds pure joy in ourselves. That we figure out a way to see what we look like through eyes that find us absolutely lovable, and that we are given a motivation to give generously to our own peace.’

So here we are.

I believe that we were made on purpose, crafted specifically and intentionally in every way. From your head to your toes to your heart and all the in-between spaces, there is meaningful design in the way you laugh, the way you feel, the way you love.

And I believe that when we don’t appreciate our uniqueness, we don’t get to be who we were made to be. We never feel fully comfortable in our own skin, we often don’t believe that our thought will be useful to this conversation, we don’t get to shine.

And that’s what we were made to do. We miss moments that were made for us, opportunities to be surprised by ourselves and to be overwhelmed with a grateful heart for what we found in this day.

“Your soul is made of stars.
Stars shine.”
Ru Paul

It’s a really hard thing to do, in my own experience, to stop seeing all that you know is wrong with you. To stop questioning why you were made this way. To stop living your life in fear of what they’ll think or say, and be unapologetically yourself. Free.

“Remember the prophecy God gave in Hosea: ‘To those who were rejected and not my people, I will say to them, ‘You are mine.’ And to those who were unloved, I will say to them, ‘You are my darling!’ And In the place where they were told, ‘You are nobody,’ this will be the very place where they will be renamed.” Romans 9:25

I believe that the place where we will be renamed is within us.

We have all had an experience somewhere or with someone where we were made to feel like less than what we knew we were. In that moment, if you accepted the words or the pain, an agreement was made in your soul. And this is the exact place where it will be repaired.

To do that, you will have to practice being nice to yourself. I know well that we don’t always have a choice in this acceptance, but we can be in charge of breaking off the agreement.

A friend explained this to me many years ago with this example: If I trip over a door’s threshold and stub my toe, my immediate reaction is to demean myself, saying things like, “I’m so clumsy. Can’t I pay attention to where I’m going for one second!?!” or “That was stupid. Aren’t I ridiculous?” But if I watched my friend trip over that same door’s threshold, my immediate reaction then would be to run over and scoop them up, making sure that they’re okay, asking if I could get them some ice, and telling them that the floor just jumped up out of nowhere.

Why is it so hard for us to treat ourselves like a friend? You are NOT nobody. You are made of stars. And you should treat yourself accordingly.

Practice saying nice things to yourself. Put a note on your mirror affirming the goodness in who you know you are, and say the words out loud every morning and night. Need some suggestions to start?

YOU ARE WONDERFUL!
or
YOU ARE MADE OF STARS,
SO SHINE TODAY!

You can either “you are” these, or you can “I am” these. Whatever feels better to you is fine. Either way you’re still talking to yourself.

If the above examples feel too nice, I understand. It’s hard to learn being kind to yourself, but it will get easier if you try. Start with something really small if you need to. Like….

I LOOK GOOD IN RED.
or
SOMEONE OUT THERE LOVES ME.

I assure you there is someone out there who loves you, and if this is hard for you to say, know that I am sending you sparkles right now just thinking of you. Break ties with any lies in your soul about what you are not, and start living fully for the goodness of who you are. You were made this way on purpose, and it is good.

These people totally agree with me. Here ya go! Truly, the Brilliance. See the love, and dance with this nice lady. You really should do it.
